Many users primarily use Gmail for receiving and sending E-mails.But you can also send SMS from Gmail to any Phone number and the daily limit is 50.This SMS feature is 1 year old but many users are still not aware of this.There are many websites on internet that describes how to send SMS from Gmail but all of that stuff is bit old and is not updated.It is so because Google has changed its Chat settings and now Google chat is termed as Hangouts.So,here I have described how easily you can send SMS from Gmail in 2014.Just follow below instructions.For convenience we have also uploaded corresponding screenshots.
Step To Follow :
Step 1. Sign in to your Gmail account and after successful log in click on Gear icon(settings) as shown in below image.
Step 2. Now,from the drop down menu choose “Settings”.
Step 3. There you will find several Blue options.You have to Choose “Labs” option.
Step 4. Now look for SMS(Text messaging) in Chat option.Literally you will not find it there because Google has recently changed Chat to Hangouts.And for Text messaging you have to “revert it to old chat”.Follow Step 5 for the same.
Step 5. From the left portion Click on your Name drop-down menu and then select”Revert to old chat”.Gmail will prompt you again and you have to Choose revert option as shown in below screenshots.
Step 6. Now,your account will automatically reloaded.And you will find a option in Labs”SMS(Text messaging) in Chat” .Enable it if it is not.
Step 7. Now you are ready to send SMS to any phone number.Just Click on Search,Chat,or SMS option at the left side.Enter the phone number and then save it by giving it a name.
A new window will open at the right bottom portion and from there you can send your SMS easily.
